The Hollowed-Out Bible

The Hollowed-Out Bible was used by Andy to hide his Rockhammer which was the last place he thought Warden Samuel Norton would look. He used the Rockhammer to hack out a tunnel from his prison cell (which was covered behind a movie poster) in order to escape.

Early in the movie, Andy Dufresne is seen sitting in his cell reading the Bible. Shortly after, the Shawshank prison guards enter his cell and order him to stand up and face the wall (which he calmly does while still holding onto the Bible) as they begin to sweep for illegal objects, all while Warden Norton stands at the entrance and inspects with his eyes. After not being able to find anything, one of the guards orders Dufresne to turn around and face Warden Norton, who just stared at him for a second, right before picking up the bible from his hand and beginning to converse:

Warden Norton: 'Pleased to see you reading this! Any favorite passages?'

Dufresne: 'Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh.'

Warden Norton: 'Mark 13:35, I've always liked that one. But I prefer, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.'

Dufresne: 'John chapter eight verse twelve.'

They continue a casual conversation.

Unable to find anything illegal, the guards and Warden Norton then exit his cell (while still holding onto Dufresne's Bible). Right after stepping out, Warden Norton turns and says: 'I almost forgot! I'd hate to deprive you of this!' while handing the Bible back to Dufresne, immediately followed by the line: 'Salvation lies within!', to which Dufresne softly replies: 'Yes, sir!'.
